The Twilight Hour

Last month at the beach I took the opportunity to practice some evening shots. Some required a higher ISO, longer shutter speeds, or even just using the external flash to highlight some objects.

f/5.6, 1/500th, ISO-800, 40mm
Still pretty early in the evening, so no slow shutter speed and ISO only needed to be 800
f/5.6, 1/15th, ISO-1600, 70mm
The white balance was off a bit. Putting it correct for the house made the colors in the sky boring or incorrect. I tried cropping the house out of the shot, but I think overall it's more balanced and interesting with the house at the bottom, even orange.

Yes, still obsessed with those kayaks. I used the external flash, which obviously couldn't highlight the entire field of vision. Still got some beautiful colors in the sky and the shadow area makes the picture not look too bleached out.

f/11, 2.5, ISO-1600, 18mm
Used glow sticks and a slow shutter. The kids had trouble staying still while moving their glow sticks but this shot came out okay.

J was better at following directions for these shots. Started to get a little too dark to show off the colors in the sky.
That's all I got for beach pictures until my upcoming beach vacation!
