50 mm of fun!

Blah blah blah I love my new lens :-) It's 50mm of fabulousness, with an fstop of 1.8.

Comparison time! Here are some shots taken pre-new lens while at Emily's engagement party (of her new sister in law).

f/5.6, 1/100th, ISO-400, 70mm

f/5.6, 1/400th, ISO-100, 50mm

And now here's some of the magic with my new lens.

f/1.8, 1/4000th, ISO-100, 50mm
Pre Color Run :)

f/2, 1/30th, ISO-1600, 50mm
f/1.8, 1/1000th, ISO-100, 50mm
Took some headshots of Gina to use on her employer's profile and captured this amazing moment (and got a good headshot for her as well, not pictured here but check it out at http://hands.org/about/the-all-hands-team/ and check out all hands while you're there as well! )

f/1.8, 1/800th, ISO-1600, 50mm

f/1.8, 1/4000th, ISO-100, -3 exposure, 50mm
No filter or editing on this one!
Much more dramatic photos, although it can be a little more difficult to frame the shot. Since it's a fixed lens, I can't zoom in and out on a shot and have to move myself or my subject to get what I want in the frame. Sometimes I end up just cutting off more of them than I would have otherwise, but I think that adds to the drama of the shot.

You'll be seeing a lot more photos from the 50mm soon, it's definitely a keeper :)
